Saturday Day Trip: Long Beach | Ballast Point
I have been a fan of Ballast Point beer for quite a while now, and sure, it started only because I love their labels/brand identity, but developed into much more! I recently found out that they had the brewery in Long Beach so we decided it was time to venture down to check it out. We spent the morning wandering around the Aquarium of the Pacific, and then headed over to Ballast Point around lunch time right after they opened.
This place is HUGE. As you walk in, they have a giant main bar and seating area, and a small gift shop with loads of pirate themed decor. We were told we could order at the main bar indoors and take a seat, or head to the upper bars outside. We decided to go to the upper bar on the top deck, overlooking the water, and it was the perfect place to sit. We headed up to the bar to make our selections, opened a tab and settled in for a few hours. I opted for my favorites, the California Amber and the Victory at Sea. They were great, and very hearty pours for a reasonable price($5-$7 each).
We ordered some steak nachos for the table, which were incredibly flavorful, and I opted for the white BBQ and bacon burger for my entree. What. A. Great. Decision. The burger has candied bacon, pepper jack cheese, crispy onions and this amazing, smoky white BBQ sauce. Totally hit the spot while we enjoyed the outdoor patio and sipped on our beers. I can't wait to go back! It's definitely on my list to head back and watch the sunset next time around. Highly recommend checking it out!
