Local Favorite: Catch LA
Came to Catch LA for the first time for brunch for my boyfriend's birthday. I booked in advance on OpenTable, and found convenient parking next door in the library parking lot for just $2 for the two hours we were parked. We headed in a little early, and were sent up in the elevators right at 11am. Once we checked in, they asked us to stand at the bar and wait to be seated, and we were taken to our table just a few minutes later. This is a very "hip" spot, so you will find that people watching here is quite intriguing.
Let me break down our experience in a few categories: AMBIANCE The ambiance at Catch LA is absolutely lovely. There is greenery everywhere, water features, hanging lights, and gorgeous accents all throughout the space. Everything is impeccably put together and laid out, and it makes for some amazing photo opportunities! The only detractor for me was the music. Hip hop just didn't fit the mood of the restaurant to me.
FOOD The food was not only Instagram worthy (I mean come on, they have a waffle tower with ice cream in between each layer!) but very, very good. We were there celebrating my boyfriend's birthday and he got the eggs benedict and I got the waffle tower, and we each had half of each. The eggs benedict was excellent, and if you understand that the waffle tower is more of a dessert than a hearty breakfast, it was great as well.
STAFF The staff checked us in quickly, got us seated in a reasonable amount of time, and our server was very attentive. They cleaned away our plates quickly and never left our water glasses unfilled. PRICE The menu is a little pricey, but you have to know that going in, and to me, you are also paying for the ambiance on top of it. That said, I did feel that $17 for a Mimosa was a little much! They did make up for it by bringing us complimentary frozen rose shots to say happy birthday. A nice touch! Perfect place to wear an over-sized sweater with a dress, and settle in for a great dining experience.
