Weekend Trip: Cambria Christmas Market
This past weekend, we packed up the cars, grabbed some friends and headed up the Central Coast to Cambria for the annual
Cambria Christmas Market at the Cambria Pines Lodge. I have been going to this event for about 5 years now, and it definitely gets better every year! The event takes place at the Cambria Pines Lodge and Cambria Nursery and it is truly Christmas light paradise. Every square inch of the lodge grounds and the nursery are decked out in twinkling splendor. You enter the event via shuttle (which was seamless this year!) and head up to the ticket booths and into the market area. The market is set up with local vendors, food and drink booths. I threw on this amazing Louis Vuitton monogram scarf, we grabbed some holiday cocktails (hot buttered rum anyone??) and made our way into the light displays.
The first thing you encounter is the incredible light tunnel, which is my favorite place to take some photos before you head in. As you walk around, you will see lights covering almost everything, trees wrapped, a musical light display of the 12 days of Christmas and so much more.Continuing down the pathways, you will run into the Santa house and can pose for a photo with the man himself! My favorite part is as you turn one of the corners onto a longer stretch of lights, there are several fire-pits where you can sit for a moment and take it all in. The smell of the pine trees around you and the fire just brings that extra bit of Christmas magic to the evening! Finally, you will make your way across the street to the Cambria Nursery for even more Christmas decor - you can wander through the outdoor grounds and then inside to the gift shops, full of more Christmas decor to purchase! I also love that you get to go through twice, since you backtrack through the lodge to get back to the market, giving you a second chance to see everything, or anything you missed.
I have been coming to Cambria since I was a child, and my family owns a vacation home there, which has made it a very special place in my life. It's so lovely to have these kinds of events to look forward to each year, and enjoy this wonderful little town. I really can’t recommend this event enough for anyone who loves the Christmas season, and is looking for a relatively inexpensive holiday outing. Our tickets for the night we went were $10 each and can be purchased here – and our cocktails were under $10 each. Make sure to go check out the market this Christmas season, it runs through December 23rd!
