Night Out: Beetlehouse LA
A few weeks ago after work, a group of us hopped in the car and headed a few miles down to Hollywood to check out the illustrious Beetlehouse Los Angeles. Beetlehouse is a Tim Burton themed pop-up bar in NYC and now in Los Angeles as well. Many of us are Tim Burton fans, and especially Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice, so it was pretty amazing to see it all come to life right there on Hollywood Blvd. Parking is available at a public lot on Ivar (literally right around the corner) which was a $10 flat rate. Since we were there for 3+ hours, I felt it would be better and safer to park there and not worry about finding anything cheaper. We approached the front around 6:15pm, walked right in and immediately took it all in. This was a great time to go, as we were some of the first people to arrive for the evening and it was much easier to look around and take photos before more people arrived. There is a staircase that leads up to the main bar/lounge area, and there is a pretty decent sized seating area with couches and plush chairs. The couches and chairs are really fun and everything was really clean and well put together.
We headed up to the bar and checked out the drink menu (food is only served in the main dining room with a reservation) but we knew this and only intended to come for the atmosphere and drinks. My friend and I opted to share the fish bowl which was AWESOME. A blue smoking fish bowl with vodka, gin, tequila, coconut rum, blue curacao, sour mix, pineapple juice, sprite and with candy at the bottom. So fun.
We grabbed a great spot by the window overlooking Hollywood Blvd, with a couch and some great blue chairs. As it got darker, the lighting in the bar became even cooler with the purple string lights, neon signs, etc. The decor is really cool, makes you feel like it's almost Halloween. They had people dressed up as various characters coming around all night, and they had spooky, Burton movie themed music playing throughout the evening. Overall we all had a great time and I would definitely go back before it ends up closing up shop. We will be back before Halloween for sure!
