Local Favorite: Westlake Village

I have lived in Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village for my entire life, so my affinity for the local area runs very deep. As someone who works in Los Angeles, I think it says a great deal about our community that I choose to live here despite the commute! This area has continued to grow and flourish over the past 10 years and I love seeing all of the great stores, restaurants and new places that we get to experience right in our backyard.

Recently, we spent the day traversing the local spots in Westlake Village and in today’s post we are going to break down a few of my favorites. This will begin to be a recurring post since there are so many great local places!

I threw on my comfiest black swing skirt, oversized white button down and a great hat and sandals for a perfect comfy-casual look. First up, we headed over to The Shoppes at Westlake to grab a bite at one of our favorite local Mexican places, Los Agaves. Los Agaves is this great blend of fast casual and fine dining. The food is excellent, and the ambiance is relaxed and lovely. They have ample indoor seating, plus a great patio to enjoy the gorgeous weather. I would highly recommend the Nachos platter – it is under $10 and is the definition of fresh. The chips were perfectly crisp and salty, and the toppings were all fresh and mounded high. This is quickly becoming a favorite new local spot! The Shoppes is a great addition to the area as well, with many different dining options and stores. Perfect one-stop shop for running errands, grabbing lunch with some friends, or going out on date night.

Next up, we headed to The Stonehaus, at The Westlake Village Inn, one of our favorite local spots for a beautiful outdoor atmosphere. I love wandering through their outdoor grounds and enjoying the vineyard and large fountains. Perfect place for some great photos! The Stonehaus offers everything from coffee and fresh baked pastries in the morning, gourmet food at lunch, and an excellent wine bar and tasting room for your evening out. It is a little piece of wine country right in our backyard. The stone courtyard area, outdoor fireplace and private vineyard provide the perfect backdrop to experience The Stonehaus offerings. We love coming here, whether for a cappuccino during the day, or pizza and wine in the evening under the twinkle lights, The Stonehaus is a great local gathering spot.

One of the best things about living in the Thousand Oaks/Westlake area is that it seems like something is always going on! We have a wide range of local events, some annual, and some one-offs, and we always have a great offering to choose from. On this particular weekend, we walked across the street from The Stonehaus to wander around the Westlake Rotary Street Fair, and even met a miniature horse from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department! I am so proud to live in this community, and I can’t wait to continue highlighting some of my favorite local places so that everyone can enjoy the wonderful lifestyle we get to experience every single day. Until next time!
