Night Out: Enchanted at Descanso Gardens
We have been talking for years about going to Enchanted Season of Light at Descanso Gardens, and for some reason or another it never worked out. This year, we were determined to make it happen and we did! I purchased tickets online about a month prior (some days do sell out fast) and planned out our afternoon to get there for our ticket time. Parking is super easy and they have plenty of staff to direct you as to where to go in the lot (parking is free!) and I have to say, th

Local Favorite: Story Tavern
We stumbled upon Story Tavern about two months ago for the first time for an impromptu date night. I found it on Yelp based on something else we were doing in that area and decided to give it a try since I just recently moved to the Burbank hood. We arrived a little after 6, and found convenient free parking in a lot just behind the building. The place was pretty quiet, which was nice, and we had a chance to chat with the bartender and take a look around once seated. We've be

Night Out: Warner Bros Horror Made Here
Surprise, surprise, a blog about a Halloween-themed event, how out of character for me, right?? Let me start by saying that I'm a tough critic of these types of events as I do large scale events for a living, I have been going to Universal Halloween Horror Nights & Knott's Scary Farm for 6+ years, and I am a total lover of all things Halloween. That all being said, I cannot give high enough praises to Warner Bros for Horror Made Here. Let's break it down: 1) You can't direc

Night Out: LONO Hollywood
If you know me well, you know that I have a soft spot for good Tiki-themed places. If it's any indicator that I'd rather sit at Trader Sam's for hours on end, or drive out of our way to visit a secret Tiki spot downtown, I think it's a well known fact about me. When I heard about LONO Hollywood, my first thought was, "on Hollywood Blvd??" - but we decided to round up a group and hit the town for the night to check out this Tiki spot. Our overall experience at Lono far surpass

Night Out: Pacific Seas
I have been hearing about the illustrious Pacific Seas for some time now - in fact, the secret tiki bar nestled on the top floor of Clifton's Cafeteria in Downtown LA has quite the following. Word has it that the ultimate architect of dreamy establishments, Walt Disney, was a huge Clifton's Cafeteria fan back in the 1930's, and that it informed and inspired what he created at Disneyland. This was more than enough to peak my interest, and let's be honest, if I hear secret tiki

Night Out: Catcher in the Rye
Today I’m talking about Catcher in the Rye, one of my favorite literary themed bars, nestled on Riverside Drive in Toluca Lake. I know it’s not typical to “save” restaurants for certain times of year, but I have to say my favorite time to come here is during the Winter/Christmas season. The whole place looks lovely and festive, with Christmas music playing in the background, my favorite spot is along the wall under the Catcher in the Rye sign, or by the Christmas tree on the

Night Out: Beetlehouse LA
A few weeks ago after work, a group of us hopped in the car and headed a few miles down to Hollywood to check out the illustrious Beetlehouse Los Angeles. Beetlehouse is a Tim Burton themed pop-up bar in NYC and now in Los Angeles as well. Many of us are Tim Burton fans, and especially Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice, so it was pretty amazing to see it all come to life right there on Hollywood Blvd. Parking is available at a public lot on Ivar (literally right a

Night Out: Hyperion Public
Decided to try Hyperion Public in Studio City last week for the first time and had such a great experience. We opted to come during happy hour (EVERYDAY 4-7pm!) and I ordered a whisky sour off the happy hour menu ($7) and my boyfriend tried both the dark and stormy and the old fashioned (both $7 also) - I definitely sipped on those as well to try them and they were excellent cocktails. We chose three food items from the happy hour menu: -the hyperion wings ($6) with the spic

Night Out: Hamptons 818
I am no stranger to the Ventura Blvd strip and I love finding new restaurants to try out and add to my repertoire! I tried out Hamptons 818 the other night and absolutely LOVED it! From the overall ambiance, to the food, to the fun custom cocktails, I would definitely recommend any and all locals come check it out. Conveniently located on the strip, it was pretty easy to find a metered spot right outside, but valet is also available. The ambiance transports you to the Hampto

Night Out: How to Splurge on a Budget
Okay guys, for those of you who know me, I love a good deal. I am hyper-focused on my finances and am always looking for ways to increase my investments and my savings account, it’s like a game for me! Now, that isn’t to say I don’t spend money, but instead, I choose what’s most important to splurge on, and otherwise I try to be budget conscious and find fun ways to save when I go out. My philosophy has always been that I want to save, even when I don’t necessarily “have to”

Night Out: The One Up
As you walk off of Ventura Blvd and into The One Up, you’re suddenly transported into this throwback gastropub style bar that offers a great atmosphere and free classic video games in the back room. With a neon sign declaring “We are all pretty bizarre, some of us are just better at hiding it, that’s all” you know you are in for a good time. The layout of the restaurant in bar is small, but very efficient. The room is anchored by a bar and seating areas are on two levels wi
